Upcoming Events
The 2012 Family and Parent event schedule is loaded with fun and interesting opportunities.
Here are a few for your Spring calendar:
April 7 – On Saturday, April 7, the Knights of Columbus will once again sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt for families enrolled at Lemay Child & Family Center! The event will take place in our field and playground areas and will begin promptly at 1 pm, so be sure to get here a little bit early. The Knights of Columbus have offered this event for many years and we appreciate their commitment to the Center. One change from prior years is that our building will not be open during the Easter Egg Hunt. In the event of rain, the event will be moved to the Knights of Columbus hall at 9410 South Broadway.
April 12 - Hancock Place and Bayless School Districts Parents as Teachers programs are hosting a presentation called ”Ten Things Children Need (That no-one is trying to sell you). The speaker is Peggy North-Jones, who is a mental health consultant and family life educator. Peggy has helped our Center as a member of our Advisory Council, a trainer for our staff, and she served for three years as our infant-toddler consultant as part of a grant we received from the Missouri Department of Social Services. The presentation on April 12 includes dinner and childcare, and it will be held at the Hancock Early Childhood Center. If you want to register, call 314-544-1300, ext. 198 by April 10.
April 23 – 27 is the Week of the Young Child. This is a week set aside annually by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, to focus on the needs of young children and their families and to celebrate childhood. As a NAEYC-accredited Center, we participate in this week by offering several events and opportunities, funded with our grant from the Children’s Trust Fund of Missouri:
April 23 – Dinner at the Center. Sign up in the front office for a free dinner with your family at the Center. We’ll serve dinner from 4 – 5 pm, and again from 5 – 6 pm. This is a great chance to meet other families and chat while you enjoy a healthy meal with your family.
April 24 – Join us on the front patio to decorate a flower pot and plant a flower. Then at 6 pm, we’ll host our quarterly parent meeting. Topics for this meeting include Welcoming New Families, Infant-Toddler Programs, Opportunities to Help Raise Money for Our Playgrounds, and the upcoming Benefit For Landen.
April 25 – We have a special guest storyteller – Mama Katambwa – who will be here to sing, dance and tell stories with the children in the morning. Parents are welcome to stay and join in the fun.
April 26 – We are hosting an ice cream social with families from 5 pm to 6 pm on the patio.
April 27 – The children will enjoy a bounce house, and in the evening parents can enjoy a night out while we watch your children.
You can sign up for all of these events in the front office!
