Lemay Child & Family Center offers our “Families First” program to encourage parents and guardians to be active and involved in their child’s experience here at LCFC.  Through a combination of social, educational, and curriculum-based events, we are here to support families. Our Families First activities help families connect to each other, give parents opportunities to do hands-on learning activities with their children, and learn about child development and parenting.

In 2013, the third Wednesday of every month is reserved for a Families First activity, so mark your calendar now!  Plus we will be offering other special events throughout the year.  Families First events are funded through a grant from the Children’s Trust Fund of Missouri.

Don’t forget to sign up for Parent-Teacher conferences, which are scheduled for the week of April 29.

NEXT EVENTS:  Our third Wednesday activity for May will be a health and safety fair on Wednesday, May 15.  Plan now to visit booths set up by several local health organizations.  We’ll also have some give-away items and door prizes for families who attend.

Plus, our classrooms are busy getting ready for our annual Spring Concerts and Preschool graduation.  On Wednesday, May 8 at 6 p.m. the infants, toddlers, two and three-year-olds will entertain their family members with songs about animals!  This is a great time to visit with other families and bring your own family members to see your children’s school.  Then, on Thursday, May 9, 25 preschoolers will graduate from the Preschool program at Lemay Child and Family Center, celebrating their accomplishments with a graduation ceremony and a musical performance.  Of course, most of these children will continue to attend the Center and keep on learning right until they start kindergarten in August.  Please sign up in the front office for these events!

In May, we are also looking for parent volunteers to help us for a Center-wide clean-up day.  On Saturday, May 18 from 8 to noon, we will be cleaning, painting, and getting the Center’s playgrounds and garden ready for the busy summer season.  Please sign up to volunteer in the front office.

 

RECENT EVENTS

In April, we celebrated the Week of the Young Child at Lemay Child and Family Center.

The children enjoyed the “Bubble Bus” here at the Center on Monday.  Then on Tuesday, families enjoyed an ice-cream social where they had a chance to visit with other families and get to know each other.  Wednesday’s event was a session of our “Loving Tips for Parents” program, led by Ms. Angela and Ms. Kadina, and on Thursday we gave parents a break from cooking dinner by offering a free “dinner to go.” Families took home pasta, salad, bread and dessert so that they could enjoy less time making dinner and more time eating together as a family.  And finally, on Friday, we hosted a “Movie on the Lot” night, although we had to move the movie inside because of cold, wet weather.
